Shadows and echoes are two different physical phenomena, but there are some similarities between them. Both shadows and echoes are created when an object or sound wave encounters an obstacle. These similarities were the inspiration for Echoing Shadows. The quintet was composed for Ensemble 6263 who gave the first performance in the Faroe Islands in the summer of 2023.
